Over 250 paintings, drawings and sculptures of American artist Keith Haring are showing at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon, France until June 29. In 1978, Haring moved to New York and became friends with fellow artists Kenny Scharf and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Although controversial, Haring was one of the offbeat graffiti artists in New York, contributing his own signature style to the art movement of his time. He created the Keith Haring Foundation to assist AIDS-related and children charities; he himself died of AIDS in 1990.
